Faster than a speeding bullet
Happiness is finding out that your cafe took a two-day, $25,000 (yes, you read that right -- not $2,500 but $25,000) catering order for the Google campus... and it's your days off.

Bullet dodged. I'm so grateful I could cry. Not kidding. We probably haven't had a catering order that big since the President was in town a few years ago.

Good fortune was definitely smiling upon you this weekend. YAY! for you that someone else had to carry that large of a load for a change.

It's nice to know that someone else is going to have to shoulder this burden. The order is actually so huge that it's being split between three cafes, but those bakes are still going to be ridiculously enormous. I am so relieved. The only way that it might impact me is I might need to pan up the bread for that bake (on my Friday), which isn't nearly as time consuming as BAKING it. :)

Wow! That's quite the order... and yay to dodging bullets! Now, just don't answer your phone. :-p

Oh, I don't answer my phone on weekends any more. Although after my last tersely worded e-mail to the boss, he hasn't dared to call me for ANYTHING. Good. Because that's how I want it. He's never done me any favors, so there's no reason for me to reciprocate.

Definitely dodging a bullet! I worked at a catering firm for several summers when I was in school, and the very first day I worked they were doing an event for I think American Express, for something like 8000 people. Horrendous. Thankfully basically all the actual food prep was done and I just spent hours putting cookies into baskets for the multiple buffet lines.

But yay for your cafe for doing good business and I hope the event goes off smoothly!

We get big orders once in a while -- but usually for no more than 500 people. Those orders usually run about $4000-5000. The fact that this order is over $25,000 gives me the impression they're going to try to feed most of the damn Google campus. I'm just floored by a corporation that's willing to shell out that sort of money for a catering order. o.O

Holy crap, that's a big order! I think you owe yourself a strong, celebratory drink for that. Toast the universe for saving you! :)

Well, didn't dodge the bullet after all. Found out they added another day to the order, and it's on my Friday next week. Damn it. Now I just need to know details so I can pre-plan accordingly.

Holy. Shit. $25,000 catering order? God, I am so fucking glad you dodged that bullet!!

Yeah, not so lucky after all. As I mentioned in the post I put up tonight, I wound up learning today they added another day of catering. That added day is on my Friday next week. Damn it. Jinxed myself.
